In the competitive world of mobile apps, maintaining a high app rating is crucial for success. App Store Optimization (ASO) on Google Play Store heavily relies on user ratings and reviews to determine the visibility of an app. A higher rating not only improves an app’s ranking in the store but also enhances its credibility, leading to more downloads and user engagement. However, sometimes, apps receive low ratings despite having positive feedback in the review’s content. This paradox can significantly impact an app’s overall rating.
To address this, AppVector team has developed a unique feature called “Rating Booster” in our ASO tool that helps identify and manage these anomalies effectively. This feature does NOT violates the policies of Google’s Play Console, and hence this is 100% white-hat ASO (App Store Optimisation) strategy.
Follow these steps to improve the rating of your app:
First things first: Signup for your free account on AppVector.io.
Click on the “Ratings Booster” feature in the sidebar and select your app using the dropdown at the top. You will now be able to see those low rated reviews for your app, which have a positive sentiment in the content of the reviews.
Now click on the “Flag” button as shown below:
This will open a popup with a 4 step process for you to follow:
-
- First, click on the link. This will open a new window with the Google login screen.
- Now select the Google account using which you have published your app.
- In the next screen, select the “Developer account” for the app.
- In the next popup, select the app for which this review was written.
Now this will open Google Play Console specifically with the review that we wanted to Flag. Click on “Report review” button in top-right corner of the review.
Click “Report” again in the confirmation popup.
That’s it. These reviews are reviewed by Google’ team and usually deleted by Google within next 15 to 20 days. Once a review is deleted by Google, and you visit the review url again, you will see this message:
Since we are using an official Google feature to “Report reviews”, this is 100% white-hat (as it is upto the discretion of Google’s team whether they want to delete a review or not).
Every low rated review that gets deleted by Google, improves your app’s average rating marginally. We recommend reporting max 4-6 reviews every week to see a significant improvement in rating over a period of next 6-8 months.

In the dynamic and competitive landscape of ASO, maintaining a high app rating is essential for standing out in the crowded Google Play Store. By leveraging AppVector’s Rating Booster feature to identify low-rated reviews with positive sentiment, developers can proactively manage their app’s reputation and improve their overall rating.
