Clustering is very important in App Store Optimization (ASO). There’s a lot of anecdotal evidence about repeating a keyword a certain number of times, but in reality, it may not work.
There are times, when companies may focus on 10 different verticals, and may want to focus on all the segments.
Unlike how it is on websites, there’s a limited amount of keywords that you can use. This is because Google limits the description length to 4000 characters – which roughly translates to 650 mots. We’ve noticed that clustering helps extensively in that case.
How does keyword clustering for ASO work?
Suppose I have the following keywords.
investissement, investments, funding
You can cluster the above keywords as following

Donc, in this case, if your target keywords are all these, just using one of the words, investissement will help you rank for the other two keywords. Appvector has a keyword clustering tool that helps you exactly do that.
Writing an ASO Optimised Description Using Keyword Clustering
- Get a list of keywords that you are interested in ranking on.
- You can use brand keyword filter to remove the keywords that are specific to your brand or that of your competitors. (Optional)
- Do a quick find of the list of keywords that are in the root cluster, but are not present in your description.
- Include that in your description – the more important the keyword, the higher should be its placement in the description.
Conclusion
There are times when we see apps targeting 1000’s of keywords, and in such cases, you can’t put all the words in the description. Toutefois, that doesn’t mean you can’t rank on all those keywords.
